The Sixth International Conference on Shared Parenting (ICSP)
will be held in Athens, Greece on May 5, 6, and 7, 2023.

The conference will be held in person, but a virtual option will be available for those unable to attend. Specialists in the field of shared parenting and other family related issues – representing both the academic sciences and the legal and family professions – are invited to present their research results and professional practice accounts at this interdisciplinary conference. The theme of this conference is:

New Paradigms: Advances in Research
and Practice on Shared Parenting

The first ICSP conference, held in July 2014 in Bonn, Germany, focused on bridging the gap between empirical evidence and socio-legal practice on shared parenting. This 6th conference will return to this original theme and aims to encourage international reflection on recent advances and approaches in research and practice. The conference will also integrate other related family issues such as parental leave, child support, family violence, and parental alienation that affect children’s best interests. Scientists, researchers, child and family professionals, and members of civil society, from the fields of justice, social work, psychology, sociology, and other academic disciplines concerned with children’s rights and wellbeing are warmly invited to present and discuss their findings.

We invite submissions to the ICSP scientific committee for oral presentations that correspond to completed scientific research and practical accounts on a wide variety of topics not limited to the conference theme. Below are a few examples:

  • family life as a fundamental right;
  • shared residence and parental agreement;
  • child support laws and policies related to custodial arrangements;
  • legal representation of children and child-friendly practices in court in parental conflict cases;
  • the impact of shared parenting on children and family health;
  • handling misinformation and science denial about shared parenting,
  • parental alienation and family violence;
  • shared parenting and parental alienation solutions;
  • child protection and reparation measures for families;
  • family mediation and other post-separation interventions;
  • advocacy efforts related to shared parenting, family violence, and parental alienation;
  • assessment issues for families involved in the justice system;
  • development and implementation of empirically based training programs for legal and family professionals;
  • effective dissemination strategies for research.

If you are interested in submitting a paper for consideration to present at the conference, please prepare and submit a 350-450 word abstract of your oral presentation (file format .doc / docx, .odt, .txt) by November 1, 2022 using the following link:
